David Valmorbida

David is currently the Executive Chairman for Corval Group, his family business of 72 years’ history which incorporates Conga Foods, dc Specialty Coffee Roasters and Pakval Business Solutions. The Valmorbida name is synonymous with the development of many well-known brands such as Sirena tuna, Val Verde tomato products, Deep Spring mineral water and Moro olive oil. Today, Conga Foods is one of Australia’s leading private, family-owned companies in the grocery industry working with all levels of retail and HORECA channels, carrying well-regarded brands such as Moro, Val Verde, Squeaky Gate, Saclà, Rana, Zanetti and dc coffee.

David’s hands-on experience in the FMCG, food service and 3PL businesses is complimented by a previous career in management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and USA, where he acted in various areas of strategic planning, mergers/acquisitions, cultural transformation, and corporate governance across a wide range of industries including aviation, financial services, automotive, retail, public sector, construction, logistics and mining. Prior to BCG, David worked in the automotive sector at DaimlerChrysler AG in the Mercedes Car Group headquarters specifically on enterprise IT systems and long-range production and product strategies.

As a member of the Investment Committee, David’s role will have an emphasis on strategic and consumer insight, people management and cultural transformation, and the analysis of transaction target operational efficiency, earnings quality and growth opportunities.

David is a Graduate of the AICD and an MBA Graduate (Dean’s list) of INSEAD, having originally studied a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) – Business Management and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) – Aerospace. He is also President of the Australian Olive Oil Association and a Director of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
